Last year I decided that I really wanted to get out of my comfort zone with my clothing choices and I wanted to try sewing different types of fabrics, so when I saw this lovely knit at JoAnn I thought I'd try my hand at a duster sweater.
When I first finished sewing it, it was way too baggy, too long, and resembled a Dr.'s lab coat. I was convinced I had made the perfect Halloween costume just by adding a stethoscope. Not really what I had in mind! It hung in my closet for a few months until this Spring when I pulled it out to redeem it. It was Springtime after all. A time for renewal, including this sweater.
I took it in a few inches on the sides, shoulder, and sleeves which naturally pulled the length up which kept it from looking too frumpy. I love the way it turned out!
This sweater is just the right weight to wear on those days when you need just a little extra warmth but not too much.
As much as I'd love to write a tutorial for this sweater, it really wouldn't make a whole lot of sense because I didn't take pictures along the way, and I made up the pattern, hence the ill-fitting sweater at first.
What I can share with you is the encouragement to step out of your comfort zone, infuse your life with some COLOR and take chances!! Life is about growing, reaching, trying, failing, trying again, and again if necessary. Things may not turn out exactly how you picture them, but they turn out!! Keep reaching, keep trying, keep creating, and keep finding the JOY in the MOMENT! You've got this, and just like this sweater, you can be renewed and find things that fit you and your life just right!!
Life is beautiful!!
