What a wonderful Easter weekend we just had full of family, great food, beautiful weather, and spiritual uplift! This will be a weekend to remember.
I also remember coming to Utah from Southern Alberta during the Easter break when I was growing up. It was always a lot warmer in Utah and I loved going shopping and seeing all of the florals and spring colors in the clothing. Now that I live in Utah, I appreciate that nice weather every year and I still love the florals and spring colors. This year I have spent a bit of time creating my own pieces to wear and I am pleased with how cute this top turned out.
I am in love with this jade color and the big sleeves and huge bow just add some really fun elements to this wrap top, which I am also in love with this year.
The pattern for this is from a dress, Simplicity 8013, but I just made the top part. I could go back in and make the skirt for it as well at a later date if I wanted to and wear the two pieces together but still have the option to wear them as separates. For now, I have only the top to wear and it is just the cutest! Because it is just the top of the dress, it is somewhat of a short top, but when I wear it with high-waisted jeans, it totally works.
The pattern for this calls for 7.5-10 yds. of fabric depending on the width of the fabric. I used about 3 yds. for the top. The sleeves use quite a bit of fabric but are so full and flowy!! The total cost of this top was under $25 plus a few hours of creative time. Well worth it! And it was just perfect for an Easter egg collection with Miss E!
Happy Spring Everyone!!!
