Today I was getting ready for a photoshoot for the blog and I just had this overwhelming desire to just go play! I just wanted to spend time with my daughter and her daughter. I wanted to forget about things that I have imagined to be important and have real time with what is truly important, and that is FAMILY. When it comes down to it, FAMILY time is the best time! So I scrapped the fancy outfits, threw on some jeans, a sweatshirt, and some realistic play shoes and off I went to play! And we had the best time today just playing.
It's been years since I've had a toddler of my own but now with an adorable granddaughter I'm remember all of the chasing around, the ever watchful eye for looming dangers, the prayers, the tears, the joys, the laughter, the sleepless nights, the giggles, the snuggles and so many other ups and downs of being a parent of young children.
I also remember the regrets I have of times I could have been more patient, given more attention, and had more playtime. By nature I am playful, but sometimes the demands of life and mere survival dictated my mothering choices. I don't want to have those regrets as a grandparent. More than ever, I want my family to know how important we are to each other and how much they mean to me.
Even if they're reeeeeeeeally tired and completely unimpressed with the activity!!
I want my family to know that I truly believe the following quote and try to live my life accordingly...
Above all, I want my family to know how grateful I am to be a wife, a mother, and a grandmother to them and that I'm so grateful for time spent together!!
