I love denim skirts because you can wear them any season and they're so versatile. I just found this great one at JC Penney, my go-to store, and it happens to be long enough for me. It had a slit up the front that was higher than I like but that is such an easy fix. There are a couple of things that make sewing denim simple. Sewing machine needles that are made for denim, and a heavy duty thread that matches the other stitching on your garment are a must have for a positive experience with denim.
The front slit originally come up to where the seam ripper is pointing to in this picture. Not too bad really but I knew I would like it better if it was closed up a bit.
The first thing I did was pin the slit closed to where I wanted, which was a couple of inches above the hem.
Then I top stitched over top of the original stitching and I used my blind hem foot to guide me.
And that's it!! This took me very little time and now I have a great skirt that I can wear in the
